Hello everyone!

My current fandom is Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, and I'm in it deep enough to want to draw doujinshi. My interest is Hibari x Mukuro because they're so twisted :) You can check out the TYL!1869 project here: Visibility 1.6km, a Katekyo Hitman Reborn! doujinshi series [1869]

Part 1: Visibility 1.6km (NC-17) (Mediafire, MegaUpload)
Part 2: Vitamin K (will be NC-17) (in progress, see DA or y!Gallery)

I post stuff elsewhere, so here are some links:

y!Gallery (probably will be reposts from DA when relevant, plus any R-18 stuff)

4/4/08 04:55 am - And now... On Mukuro and 1869

Another post on my KHR delusions.

I mentioned last post that "Mukuro probably doesn't care about himself too much" re: 186996 intrigue, and that's based on my delusions that Mukuro has lived so long in his many reincarnations, he doesn't care about the sort of thing normal people care about. Of course I'm a mere mortal, and not one that's lived for very long at that, so I can only speculate :)

In my setting the 1869 is one-sided in mind. Hibari started off with feelings of vengence and intrigue for Mukuro, and that became an unhealthy obsession and somewhat twisted love that he doesn't know what to do about in the next 10 years (because he is Hibari and he doesn't form relationships that have no clear master/subordinate roles). Mukuro just finds Hibari interesting, so he keeps pushing his limits. At the end, Mukuro will do whatever Hibari wants (although the process won't be straightforward... both of them being the type to not speak their minds...), but he won't love him, because he can't feel that anymore. Probably lost it the 2nd or 3rd time living. Chrome says that Mukuro really cares about Hibari, and I think it's probably the same kind of caring for fleeting things, like sakura or snowflakes or whatever :dies of cheesiness:

Another result of living so much is that he's trimmed down morals/standards to just a few principles, the centre of which is "do what you want to/is useful to you". His goal is probably to keep living the human experience, and that's why he wanted world war, etc..

There is too much potential for Mukuro's backstory :)

In the TYL!World Mukuro runs the "dark" side of the Vongola business, like dealing drugs, running prostitution rings, laundering money, etc.. Reborn implies that they don't do that, but there is just no way :) He does that by possessing multiple people, which is fine when he's in prison since he doesn't have to care about his corporeal body at all, and probably fine when not a lot of the possessed requires lots of attention, but I'm guessing he'll just ignore his body (since it is/will be in good care of the Hibari household XD in V1.6km's setting anyway!) and pass out if suddenly everything requires attention.

OK, that's all for now.

4/4/08 04:11 am - On Hibari and Chrome

I was going to put in some 1896 undertones in V1.6km, but other than it coming out of nowhere (maybe not really, since Hibari mentions Chrome in the beginning), I can't make it consistent with other assumptions without being terribly unfair to cute little Chrome.

On Hibari's side I don't think it's possible for him to see Chrome without also seeing Mukuro. If he doesn't know of Chrome and Mukuro's relationship, he's not going to be interested in her either (for she's just a normal school girl). Basically, no way Hibari will be genuinely interested Chrome (not that this is generally a problem in the awful world of fandom, but... see below)

On Chrome's side, she's totally devoted to Mukuro, and since she clearly knows Mukuro's feelings for Hibari (ah... that's a whole other thing), it would be pretty weird for her to fall for Hibari... Unless it's because she shares Mukuro's opinions also... In which case she's a second-class citizen to the 6918/1896.

As much as I like the idea of 1896 while Mukuro is locked away in prison... I can't have Chrome be just a proxy to the object of Hibari's obsessions :(

Assuming Hibari wants Chrome as a girly Mukuro though, I don't think he'll ever be able to finish the business. Mukuro is too protective of her XD Even if he takes her body over he'll probably not let Hibari defile it (not because he insists on some morals... he can't care less about them... but to be protective of Chrome) :dies:

But if Chrome independently developed affection for Hibari, and Mukuro will know this... Mukuro probably doesn't care about himself too much, but he'll care that Hibari will never return his cute little Chrome's feelings. 3-way 186996 intrigue!?!?!? XD :dies:

Chrome/Ken and Chrome/Chikusa also don't really work for me for similar reasons. I can see 6996 (kinda incestuous... but that's OK :)) but it intrigues me much less than 1896 for some reason.

Ahh! Why am I spending time thinking about this?!

I'm getting somewhat bored by DN. A flood of simple new characters, the dialogue-centric story-telling (not that there's anything wrong with dialogue, but when all the action is being told instead of being done...), the generally slow pace... Sigh, I guess a good thing can't last? Well, Gantz is still good, so... I don't feel the motivation to read DN the minute it comes out anymore.

At any rate, I translated #39 finally and hopefully I'd get #40 done some time this weekend too.

9/16/04 08:42 am - #39

DN #39 came out especially early this week. I wonder why? Japanese statutory holidays? Read more... )

9/9/04 01:31 pm - #38 Notes?

Well, apparently we have some shots of #38, and although I can't see half of the dialogue this is what I gathered happened:#38 briefly. )

9/6/04 02:53 am

I'm now back in Canada, although I truly, truly wish that I'm still in Japan or Korea. (either one, since they're close enough together :)) I now need to adjust my sense of currency values...

In a few days I'll be back to school, so that means studying, working, looking for a new job, doing theatre work, and most urgently working on stuff that's due soon after the beginning of the term... :sighs: :somewhat excited:

I translated DN #36 this morning, and you can find it here.

8/13/04 01:13 am

What do you do with stuff you think you'll never finish?

8/8/04 01:25 am - Lt. Col. Lisa Hawkeye

Perhaps one day I'll color it and whatnot... Once I do some research on sniper rifles. Whenever that is.

I love her!

8/6/04 07:34 pm - #34

I have a final to write tomorrow, so there shall be no DN translation until that is gotten over with. I'd get it done earlier, but as of 7:37pm I'm still at work. What a way to spend Friday evening... brief summary of #34 )

8/1/04 01:51 am - Dreams of Flight

Crappy L/dove sketchiness and nearly-unrecognizable dove imageries and more )

7/30/04 09:52 am - Death Note #33

#33, something happens! )

7/23/04 10:03 am - #32...

Just skimmed over Death Note #32... Since I was in so much anticipation and whatnot. )

7/19/04 06:23 pm - Silly crap...

What my addled mind really want pg.14 of Death Note #31 to say. Spoiler warning, yaoi warning, etc.

7/18/04 01:32 am - Death Note Fanart Again!

I know, I know, just in the last post I said that I'm posting my drawings to deviantart, but it seems that their servers are acting up again (!!) and I'm having a lot of trouble uploading files. Gah, haven't they figured out their network issues yet? To think that not too long ago I commented on how much "juice" their hardware must have... Well, anyway.

Somewhat large. Death Note fanart... )

7/10/04 04:00 pm

I'm just too lazy for post stuff to more than one place.

----> deviantArt. <----

Of course, now this journal has an identity crisis. Hm... What to do.

Unrelated thoughts:
  • Starting at 4 AM last night, I was watching Honoo no Mirage (Mirage of Blaze).
  • It was an extremely bad idea, for although I plan to watch an episode and sleep, I ended up not doing it.
  • Indeed I loved it a lot... I'm all about twisted relationships in BL stuff.

7/8/04 09:37 pm - Bored

Bored so bored.

Yeah yeah, edited the entry with another scan done after I drew all over the original with a pen. I decided that I like that one much better. Top left is indeed a little sketch of an iPod ^_^

A couple of thoughts on Death Note's visual style:
  • I love Death Note's early "look". Reminds me of Clover now that I think about it.
  • That split-frame of Ryuuku in the first chapter is representative of that style, IMO.
  • Seems to have lost it since... Well, doesn't matter.
  • I try to go for it too, but I always go overboard on the shadows (which aren't particularly accurate to begin with) and shy away from black.

6/30/04 10:16 pm - Kiss

Quickly done with pen & ink. Turned out better than I thought, so I didn't dare to put in any real color, for I feel like shit and have a rather long to-do list to complete tonight. The effect is messy and unfinished, but I kind of like it and think it's more post-worthy than any of the stuff I posted since the illustration of Raito and Ryuuku.

Going away this weekend, so no Death Note #29 until Sunday evening! Catastrophic! Let's hope something actually happens this week. Plot progress has been slow. I am starting to think that Obata-sensei and Ooya-sensei are dragging the series out.

Also got around to read Oku Hiroya's Gantz... It is quite interesting, but not interesting enough to keep my attention... Weeks and weeks of fighting just doesn't cut it. I appreciate the gore and sex though.

My latest aquisition of BL manga is Gion Ayumi's Danshi Ayauki ni Chikayorazu. Appreciate the sex, although of a different kind than the one in Gantz. I also love the way Gion-sensei draws eyebrows. (I am trying to emulate her in the above illustration!)

6/27/04 08:25 pm - Headphones

Eh... Weird anatomy. Anyway. This goes along with my current electronica mood.
